"One Word" Film Competition Screening and Judging
To Take place on January 11th
February, 4, 2009 – Fort Walton Beach, FL – On February 11th Filmmakers from across NW Florida will screen and judge entries from the "One Word… One Month… One Movie" film competition sponsored by the Production Services Association of NW Florida.
One month ago fifteen Filmmakers from Marianna to Pensacola held a random draw of words that would become their inspiration in the creation of an original movie. The only requirement was that it be completed by February 11th 2009 and be three minutes in length. Rubber, Healthy, Shoes, Drums, Light and Art are just some of the words selected as to be the muse for these movies.
Among the movies that will be screened:
Ø "Rubber Duckies of the Apocalypse" a dark comedy about one man's obsession with Rubber Ducks.
Ø "Following the Beat of Distant Drums" a mini documentary about Tibetan Monks who recently visited Northwest Florida to create a Mandala, a ritualistic sand art creation to promote spiritual kindness and world peace.
Ø "Casual Shoes" explores what one man's shoes do after a long day at work
Ø "The Art of Timing in Music", Dr. David Ott describes the importance of timing in music.
Ø "Light" Two people who barely know each other are faced with an unpleasant task stop at a motel to wait for the morning light.
Ø "A Healthy Rat" A rat named Ruffious encourages his family and friends to live a "Healthy" lifestyle, but fails to recognize other things that threaten a rat's longevity.
The screening and judging of the movies will begin at 6pm on February 11th at Fokkers Sports Pub in Fort Walton Beach. The public is invited to attend. All who attend will be invited to participate in the judging and a "Winner Take All" prize will be awarded after all the movies have been screened and judged. All the movies will be made available on the Production Services Association of NW Florida website: http://www.psanwf.com and http://www.youtube.com after the screening and judging.
"It's not easy to come up with a finished movie from concept to reality in just one month" said Steve Baker organizer of the "One Word… One Month… One Movie!" contest. "I have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the filmmakers who are participating. I'm sure we will see some amazing projects."
