Compression

Postby almo100 on Mon Nov 19, 2007 8:33 am

The tutorial we saw at the November meeting was offered as a free view to a series offered by the Creative Cow Master Series web site. It is an entire series on compression by Aharon Rabinowitz. Below is the link to more information and near the bottom of the page is where you can view the first chapter for free.

If anybody needs a copy of a compressor we have one specifically for HD. It is pc based only at present, but will shrink files substantially. It is also H.264 compliant.

What is the name of the compressor and what output files does it allow you to export to? Is it your own proprietary compressor? Do you have ny samples that you can post of your work with file size?

Thanks for the info.

Sorry about that, it is our own proprietary compresssion algorithm.

It will take almost any format (AVI - MPEG MPEG-1 (VCD) MPEG-2 (SVCD.DVD) MPEG-4 (XviD, MP4, 3GPP) MPEG-4 V3 ISO MPEG-4 V1 - Cinepak Codec by Radius, Cinepak by Supermac to FLV - Intel Indeo(R) Video R3.2 - DivX 5 to FLV Windows Media Video , ASF WMV 7, WMV 8, WMV 9, 10 to FLV - Quicktime) and compress it to MP4 (Mpeg 4).

An example would be the Terminator 2 trailer in HD that we downloaded from Windows Media at 95mb for the 720p and encoding resulting in this example http://www.flvhosting.com/index.php?sc=7. The resulting file is now 30mb and has no loss of quality.
